Payne’s Donuts, Block Island, Rhode Island
Every year, our family spends a week on Block Island. Block Island is off the coast of Rhode Island and it is about 1 hour by ferry from Point Judith, Rhode Island (on the car ferry) You can also get there from New London, Connecticut or Montauk, New York.
Block Island is a very small island, you could probably drive around the whole island in about a half hour, but it is full of surprises like Payne’s who make The Killer Donut!
There are three types of Killer Donuts: Plain, Sugar and Cinnamon. They are a little crunchy on the outside and really fluffy on the inside. We were lucky we got ours when they were still hot!
I asked Charity Payne, whose Grandma Payne invented the Payne’s Killer Donut in 1963,
“What is the most popular Payne’s Killer Donut”
She said, “Cinnamon is our most popular, followed by the Sugar Donut”.
I ate all three and thought they were DEEEEE-Licious!
