The Bull’s Head Diner in Stamford, is a old-style diner.  It looks like it is really old, but we found out that you can’t judge a book just by looking at its cover!

The first thing that you see when you walk in is a HUGE display case of yummy desserts. The interesting thing is that today, I had something that what was part breakfast and part dessert!

There were so many choices on the menu, including many things I’ve never seen before in a diner — but when I saw The Cheesy Stack — I knew I had to have it.

So, what is The Cheesy Stack?  It is three pancakes that are filled with CHEESECAKE!  That’s right — you heard it here — CHEESECAKE!  And you know what, it was REALLY good.  The pancakes were light and fluffy, and the cheesecake filling was sweeeeeeet!  In fact, I didn’t even need syrup.  I also had a side order of bacon and a chocolate milk (which was freshly made).

I asked Bobby Kitsios, the manager, how long has Bull’s Head been open?

He said, “This year is our 20th anniversary, the building looks like an old retro diner, but is really not that old”.

I also asked about the Cheesy Stack…

He said,  “The Cheesy Stack is one of our most popular items on the menu, but we only have it on the weekends, the cheesecake filling is homemade here at the diner by our chef. Kids also like The Peanut Butter & Jelly Pancakes which are filled with PB&J and our Pumpkin Spice Pancakes”.

We’ll definitely be going back soon for another STACK!

A Sweet Breakfast At Sugar Bowl In Darien!

Sugar Bowl, 1033 Post Road, Darien, CT

I knew breakfast at the Sugar Bowl in Darien must be good, because they have been around for over 65 years, and it was!  We’re lucky we got there early, because soon it  was packed with kids and adults who come for the food and the cool decorations!

Sugar Bowl does an awesome job of decorating the restaurant, and right now there are Halloween decorations up. And when it comes to decorating, they really mean business!!!  And I’m not just talking about a paper skeleton and a few pumpkins — they have over a hundred decorations just hanging from the ceiling including pumpkins, bats, witches, skeletons and lots of spider webs.

And the food is just as good as the decorations.  I had a short stack of pancakes, which were very fluffy, so fluffy that you don’t even have to chew them (but you should), bacon, which was really good and crispy and a sausage patty.  The only thing that was  a little disappointing was that the chocolate milk was not freshly made — but — at least, it was the organic kind :)

I asked our server Flor, “Does Sugar Bowl decorate for every holiday?”

She said, “Yes, we decorate for Valentine’s Day, St Patrick’s, Easter, July 4th,  Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas! — All the big holidays.”

I also asked her, “What is the most popular breakfast with kids?”

Flor said “The short stack of pancakes with a smiley face is the most popular”

Next time I’ll make sure to ask for a smiley face on my short stack!

Something else that Sugar Bowl is famous for is Brian’s Homemade Lemon Cake definitely try this when you visit.  Dad and I got some to go and it’s really AWESOME — it’s super sweet but it’s also sour and it’s really dense — YUM!!!!!

Look Who Is in Good Housekeeping This Month!

This summer I was in a photo shoot for the October issue of Good Housekeeping magazine.  And it’s out now in stores!

My favorite part was checking out all of the equipment and when the photographer was yelling to me,

“Show some fake love to your fake mom!”

It was a lot of fun to be a model, but I would like to be a major league baseball player instead!

Thanks to dad’s friend Jasmine and all the nice people at Good Housekeeping!

You’re Really Going To Flip For Chip’s New Home In Fairfield!

Chip’s Family Restaurant,   525 Tunxis Hill Cutoff, Fairfield, CT www.chipsrest.com

When I heard that one of my favorite breakfast spots, Chip’s Family Restaurant was opening a new location in Fairfield, I knew I had to go there!  It’s been over two years since I’ve been to Chip’s, mainly because the original one is in Orange, CT which is about 40 minutes away.  Now that they are in Fairfield, I can go there more!

Chip’s is famous for their pancakes!  They have over 40 types for you to try – so there’s something for everyone.  And they even have cool syrups! There are six different types for you to try:  Maple, Pecan, Strawberry, Apricot, Coconut and even Boysenberry!

If you don’t want pancakes, they have all sorts of other food on the breakfast menu and are also open for lunch and dinner too.

Chip’s is SO awesome, they have their own mascot — Mr. Chip, The Pancake Prince! Their own SONG! And even a commercial on TV!

Check it out!

I had the M&M Pancakes — which were very fluffy and delicious — a side of bacon and a chocolate milk which was freshly made by our nice server Samantha!

I asked, Adam Kindilien, the manager of Chip’s,

“Why did Chip’s want to open in Fairfield?”

He said, “So many of our customers love Chip’s so much that they drove to Orange from all around — like Darien, Westport, Stamford and even Norwalk, so we thought it would be good to open in Fairfield, to be closer to them”

I also asked him,

“What’s the most popular pancake at Chips?”

He said, “The most popular is the German Apple Pancakes which is made of fresh sliced apples cooked inside five buttermilk pancakes, topped with cinnamon and powdered sugar. All served with a raspberry purée sauce!”

I’ll be trying that next time!

Chip’s is great for kids, they let you color the placemats and they will display your art on the wall — the new Chip’s is open now, and because they are so popular, the lines ARE HUGE! So get there early. The official grand opening is on September 9th.
